چکیده
In this paper we study the influence of hard supersymmetry breaking terms in a N = 1, d = 4 supersymmetric model, in S 1 × R 3 spacetime topology. It is found that for some interaction terms and for certain values of the couplings, supersymmetry is unbroken for small lengths of the compact radius, and breaks dynamically as the radius increases. Also for another class of interaction terms, when the radius is large supersymmetry is unbroken and breaks dynamically as the radius decreases. It is pointed out that the two phenomena have similarities with the theory of metastable vacua at finite temperature and with the inverse symmetry breaking of continuous symmetries at finite temperature (where the role of the temperature is played by the compact dimension's radius).

1 Abstract In QFT the effective potential is an important tool to study symmetry breaking phenomena. It is known that, in some theories, the canonical approach and the path-integral approach yield different effective potentials. In this paper we investigate this for the Euclidean N = 2 linear sigma model. Both the Green's functions and the effective potential will be computed in three different...

The massless supermultiplet of eleven-dimensional supergravity can be generated from the decomposition of certain representation of the exceptional Lie group F4 into those of its maximal compact subgroup Spin(9). In an earlier paper, a dynamical Kaluza-Klein origin of this observation is proposed with internal space the Cayley plane, OP 2 and topological aspects are explored. In this paper we c...
